Chapter 8 – When Exercise Becomes Punishment

Nearly three weeks had passed since Rachel had legally taken possession of Jack's estate. She immediately committed him to the Institute's psychiatric care facility for the rest of his life after he was diagnosed as suffering from a rare chemical imbalance of the brain impairing cognitive function.

In laymen's terms Jack's brain was scrambled in much the same way as a radio receiver. The signals were there and being processed but the information was garbled. The video they had produced for the court showed Jack responding incoherently to every question Dr. Schumacher posed to him while he constantly went on babbling something about a pink penis nobody could see or touch.

Rachel's second act was to arrange for a generous contribution from her new holdings on a regular basis to the Institute in "appreciation" for its taking care of her husband.

This, in addition to her volunteer work would repay the Institute and help fund the Manor so she and all her fellow sisters could continue to live as they pleased. She learned that all members made scheduled contributions from the estates they eventually took over from their new slaves.

Lauren had likened it to a harvest. There would be lean times and bountiful times. New slaves were brought in on a measured basis to avoid any patterns of how they went about collecting them. In addition, new membership always brought with it new requirements along with new resources, so the need for new slaves and/or finances fluctuated with the circumstances.

But they planned for it well in advance and to help buffer the situation, some males were collected not so much for their wealth as their particular body type or skills they possessed and because there was a real need for more slaves than those serving each member. They were more or less the collective property of all and served whoever wanted them while they carried out their regular chores and duties.

Rachel was looking forward to the coming weekend. The next auction would be held and she was excited at the prospect of reviewing and bidding on a slave. She was now volunteering at the Institute on a part-time basis and attending classes at the Manor almost every afternoon.

Michael had served her well over this time but she wanted to return him to Amanda soon as she knew she enjoyed his services and wanted to continue with his personal training for her needs.

She was going over some project analyses at the office when Lauren showed up at her door.

"Hi there! Just about done for the day?"

"Hi Lauren... Yes, I am actually. These projections are looking quite healthy and I don't see any real issues to be dealt with so long as the research remains on track. How is your day going so far?"

"A bit busy. I have a board meeting early this afternoon and then I'm heading out to the Manor. Are you going out there right away?"

"I have to swing by my home and pick up a few things.
